The focus of the research presents the strategies of translation of Maxim Rylsky and the thoughts of the scientists as for the translation. It is shown that literary translation often demonstrates the originality in terms of interpreter writer due to a narrow aspect of interpretative art field. In this regard, the horizon of expectations of another national literature, which sees the foreign language work, responsible and consistent with the internal needs of national literature. Particular attention is paid to the understanding and analyzing the reception of Shakespeare during the creation of nation consolidation trends in the Ukrainian literature of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. His works laid the leading cultural «codes» of European artistic consciousness. The reception of the tragedy “King Lear” is defined bythe orientation of Maxim Rylsky to Ukrainian realities by which the national character of a literary work is reflected. These national specific elements reflect the additional connotations that are the result of a national vision of the world of the Ukrainian writer. The difficulties of translation of the tragedy “King Lear” primarily consist in the ambiguous concept of the work, challenging the ideological and aesthetic structure. The strategy of the English translation of the work, carried out by the Ukrainian writer, was an attempt of formation in the translation of specific individual artistic manner of the interpreter. ER -
