ICT AS A TOOL FOR INDIVIDUAL PROJECTS IMPLEMENTATION IN THE PROCESS OF LEARNING FOREIGN LANGUAGE

Abstract

The article considers the ways of ICT implementation into the process of learning English for professional purposes in preparing different types of individual projects such as informational, research and creative. The article gives descriptions of these short-term and long-term projects.The research goal of this article is determining the ways and possibilities of using ICT at individual project work in the process of learning English for the professional purposes at university. We describe the information project with using Internet resources for creating slide presentation; the use of educational platforms of MOOC like FutureLearn, edX, Coursera for preparing individual research projects; particularities of work with video for creative projects. Software such as NeroVideo, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Word, Power Point and Paint make it possible for students to develop future professional skills, appropriately apply the knowledge to the project, organize the information and prepare slide presentation, draft and edit their reports. Educator needs to give students the instructions or the rules of interaction with equipment and software, provide feed-back, encourage discussion, support and stimulate student's project work at all stages and control degrees of task difficulty for an ICT-supported project-based activity. The article shows the benefits of using ICT as a tool for individual projectsimplementation in the process of learning English for increasing motivation, communication in the target language, and encouraging student-centered learning. ICT can offer new opportunities to learn anytime and anywhere, enable students to access Internet resources, store and manage information, share the material with others.
